Don't they (Taliban) understand that not one ethnic group can rule Afghanistan in the past. And we have seen the horriable crimes commited in Afghanistan in the past and present. No, only ALL ethnics can run Afghanistan. Imagine it. Democracy for the innocent people. An army that no one could defeat who's sole purpose if to protect Afghanistan. Gee....I have many of my relatives in Afghanistan and i am so horrified that would stave from the bad winter that Afghanistan faces. So comeon'were the next generation. We're educated. peacekeeper_afghan@hotmail.com DK 12/20/2000 NAJAT HERAWI, 21/M, Sector: Education Help Type: any Salam to everyone,
The current situation in Afghanistan is also a part of hard time life in the history of this country. Unfortunately there we experienced people and leaders who really were in thought in assissting our misfortuned nation and there were also miss used ones that accelerated destruction of that society.
what could be the solution?
a country which has less than 4% educated, combined of different tribes and races, belief and costumes, would be indeed a hard accessor towards resettlement of peace and togetherness. Our people are in lack of knowledge of internal and external world. Economy brought them to knee to know where they stand on. Strong economy of the outside world, like US will surely be a substitute and influencefull instrument for changing the direction of that nation. So the last thing is that the people should be aware, to be educated even in poorness, they should experience all forms of democracy to know what is it. not to see it under the flage of a leader, race, tribe, religion, and so on. |

usa@yahoo.com USA 7/14/2001 MIKE STEVENS, 35/M, Sector: Education Help Type: any we would like to address the American chapter of the Afghanistan embassy in New York for there are many outraged americans at this point in time over the mass maltreatment of afghanisatan females. As of the moment there are several places which do not welcome afghanistan males in the us and we are afraid it will only worsen with time, for the american people would never condone any such religion which delights in the suffering and abuse of people. We are afraid the afghanistan males have made several enemies here in the states because of the outrage in their country. As of this moment, two universities are being boycotted to refuse entry of any afghanistan males. We hope the riots won't ensue. If you are truly a peaceful organization, perhaps you will be the only hope to end all the suffering...for even though the afghanistan females suffer over in their country, it will not be long before the afghanistan males suffer here. Thank you. |

mustafa_baghlany@hotmail.com Canada 10/24/1999 MUSTAFA HAMIDKOHZAD, 20/M, Sector: Other Help Type: Funding I am planing to publish a book on famouse afghan poets.
Because of the interest the western world has should on
afghan poets and intellectuls I believe
this book will be successfull.
I will use all the profits of the book to
open a school somewhere in afghanistan for
orphans.
The afghan orphans will be brought from
pakistan because they have the hardest
lives of all.
They are slowly loosing their nationality
and becoming pakistanies.They are our
future and therefor I believe they are the
most important of our peaple today.
The amount of orphans I will be able to
take to afghanistan will all depend on
how much money I can make from the book.
I Know many peaple in afghanistan from,
doctors, teachers to farmers in my home
province of baghlan that will help me in
this task.
However i donot have much information on
the afghan poets
I need a biography of Our famouse poets
and their poems translated into english
Iam sadened to say no afghan has yet
helped me with this task.
I also know that not many afghans will buy
this book even though they will know its
for a good cause.
There for I am forced to translate them in
to English and target the western world.
There is many **non Afghans** that are
willing to buy copies of the book already.
Iam only 20 and have not seen the good
days of our beloved country.
yet I love her more that anything in my
life.
I cant belief that **many** of the older
afghans that i have told about my plan
expresss such little interest in my plan
and in afghanistan as well
If you have any questions or comments please contact me
I would appreciate it if anyone can help me with the biographies and poems
thank you |

realhuman@earth.com USA 3/5/2001 BLOG JOES, /F, Sector: Other Help Type: any Madhu, the government of Afghanistan, is waging a war upon women. Since the
Taliban took power in 1996, women have had to wear burqua and have been
beaten and stoned in public for not having the proper attire, even if this
means simply not having the mesh covering in front of their eyes. One woman
was beaten to death by an angry mob of fundamentalists for accidentally
exposing her arm(!) while she was driving. Another was stoned to death for
trying to leave the country with a man that was not a relative.
Women are not allowed to work or even go out in public without a male
relative; professional women such as professors, translators, doctors,
lawyers, artists and writers have been forced from their jobs and restricted
to their homes. Homes where a woman is present must have their windows
painted so that she can never be seen by outsiders. They must wear silent
shoes so that they are never heard. Women live in fear of their lives for
the slightest misbehaviour. Because they cannot work, those without male
relatives or husbands are either starving to death or begging the street,
even if they hold Ph.D.s. Depression is becoming so
widespread that it has reached emergency levels. There is no way in such an
extreme Islamic society to know the suicide rate with certainty, but relief
workers are estimating that the suicide rate among women must be
extraordinarily high: those who cannot find proper medication and treatment
for severe depression and would rather take their lives than
live in such conditions. At one of the rare hospitals for women, a reporter
found still, nearly lifeless bodies lying motionless on top of beds, wrapped
in their barque, unwilling to speak, eat, or do anything, but slowly wasting
away. Others have gone mad and were seen crouched in
corners, perpetually rocking or crying, most of them in fear.
When what little medication that is left finally runs out, one doctor is
considering leaving these women in front of the president's residence as a
form of protest. It is at the point where the term "human rights violations"
has become an understatement. Husbands have the power of life and death over
their women relatives, especially their wives, but an angry mob has just as
much right to stone or beat a woman, often to death, for exposing an inch of
flesh or offending them in the slightest way.
Women enjoyed relative freedom: to work, to dress generally as they wanted,
and to drive and appear in public alone until only 1996. The rapidity of
this transition is the main reason for the depression and suicide; Women who
were once educators or doctors or simply used to basic human freedoms are
now severely restricted and treated as subhuman in the name of right-wing
fundamentalist Islam. It is not their tradition or 'culture,' but it is
alien to them, and it is extreme even for those cultures where
fundamentalism is the rule. Everyone has a right to a tolerable human
existence, even if they are women in a Muslim country. If we can threaten
military force in Kazoo the name of human rights for the sake of ethnic
Albanians, citizens of the world can certainly express peaceful outrage at
the oppression, murder and injustice committed against women by the Tali
ban.
STATEMENT: In signing this, we agree that the current treatment of women
in Afghanistan is completely UNACCEPTABLE and deserves action by the
United Nations and that the current situation overseas will not be
tolerated. Women's Rights is not a small issue anywhere, and it is
UNACCEPTABLE for women in 2000 to be treated as subhuman and as so much
property. Equality and human decency is a fundamental RIGHT, not a
freedom to be granted, whether one lives in Afghanistan or elsewhere.

gcflournoy@yahoo.com USA 7/24/2001 GEORGE FLOURNOY, 46/M, Sector: Other Help Type: any I am now living and working in Beijing, China. I converted to Islam last year, inspired by the writings of the Koran, and the Sufi tradition: the poetry of Jalaluddin Rumi, the writings of generations of Sufi masters, the qawalli of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and the sema of the Mevlana Order of Whirling Dervishes in Turkey. The conflict in Afghanistan can only be healed through the Love and the Light of Allah (Nur-i-Illahi) shining in the hearts of everyone. Peace must come. |
